Pace and race shape: The only strong leader candidate, No.1 SHEEP STEALER, is likely to take the lead at the break and control the tempo; however, the presence of several prominent horses like Nos.2, 3, 5 and 7 could create some early contest up front over the short distance.

Race assessment: No.1 SHEEP STEALER can take the lead early and control the pace to some extent; if comfortable up front it can hang on to the finish. No.5 ORMELLO is a true prominent horse who can dictate the race close to the leader, and if it forces the pace it may open up opportunities for those held up. Pace and race shape: In this race No. 1 AL TAN can take the lead from a normal break; the prominent placements of No. 5 TOR GOLD and No. 7 ETSUKO up front can occasionally push the tempo higher.

Race assessment: AL TAN's ability to lead is markedly high; if he sets the pace before the straight he can comfortably hold the lead throughout. TOR GOLD, with both lively recent form and a prominent racing position, can control the pace and is a strong contender over the middle distance.
